INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY


 

Bachelor Program

 

The Information Technology faculty educates information specialists and analysts. Graduates are familiar with IT, mathematical and economic tools for designing global networks. They are able to:

  • design global networks
  • use global networks as tools to support economic project implementation
  • do research in the IT sector with emphasis on global networks

 

A practical approach to teaching is reflected in the practice oriented coursework: Macroeconomics illustrates basic principles combined with the experience of real life case studies, Statistics provides a balance between statistics theory and application, Forecast and Simulation are discussed in the context of application to manufacturing, retail, and service industries, Mathematical Economics places emphasis on the interpretation of numerical indicators in the economic context. Introductory Computer Sciences, Computer Programming, Object-Oriented Programming, Introductory Computer Networks, Advanced Computer Networks and Databases are taught as lectures and workshops in computer labs. Students are offered internships.

Graduates obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology and are employed in IT companies, IT centers and research institutions using information technologies, and in centers for business data processing. 

 

 

Master Program

 

Graduates are familiar with mathematical tools and their IT application in supporting economic research. They have the knowledge and skills to make decisions related to companies and sectors as well as the international global economy. They are able to:

  • use information technologies to manage information and economic processes
  • do research in the IT and economic sectors, with emphasis on:
    • identifying and naming research issues
    • selecting research tools and econometric models
    • empirical data analysis
    • ability to interpret empirical data

 

A practical approach to teaching is reflected in the practice oriented coursework: Macroeconomics illustrates basic principles combined with the experience of real life case studies, Operations Research applications are discussed in the context of a real market dilemma in the areas of finance, marketing, and operations management, Statistics course provides a balance between statistics theory and application, Forecast and Simulation are discussed in the context of application to manufacturing, retail, and service industries, Mathematical Economics places emphasis on the interpretation of numerical indicators in the economic context, Decision Games course is carried out in the form of a business simulation, which imitates the competitive, ever changing market. As opposed to the traditional textbook-based course, participants learn and gain experience by making true-to-life business decisions. Introductory Computer Sciences, Computer Programming, Object-Oriented Programming, Introductory Computer Networks, Advanced Computer Networks, Networks Security, Databases and Computer Graphics and Animation are taught as lectures and workshops in computer labs. Students are offered internships.

Graduates obtain a Master's Degree in Information Technology and are employed in IT companies, IT centers and research institutions using information technologies, and in centers for business data processing as designers, analysts and system programmers. Public administration and institutions dealing with economic trend planning and forecasting create other possibilities.

      

 


INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT


 

Bachelor Program

 

Students examine a broad spectrum of issues related to economics, with emphasis on various aspects of management in international companies. In the course of studies students learn how to plan and run companies on the global market. They also learn to solve problems and use IT in company management.

A practical approach to teaching is reflected in the practice oriented coursework: Macroeconomics illustrates basic principles combined with the experience of real life case studies, Statistics course provides a balance between statistics theory and application, Forecast and Simulation are discussed in the context of application to manufacturing, retail, and service industries, Mathematical Economics places emphasis on a substantial amount of interpretation of numerical indicators in the economic context, Accounting deals with the application of accounting concepts and principles to real life business situations. Introductory Computer Sciences course is organized according to the see-hear-touch approach; lectures are accompanied by workshops in computer labs. Negotiations provide students with the applications and special negotiating scenarios (multiple parties, coalitions and teams, cross-cultural negotiations, tacit negotiations and social dilemmas). Students are offered internships.

Graduates obtain a Bachelor's Degree in International Management and can run their own companies as well as occupy middle management positions.

Master Program

In addition to general economic knowledge, students learn various aspects of management in the context of international business activity. A creative approach to problem solving in business is developed. Other aspects include: the company and its economic environment, managing company potential, analysis and evaluation of company performance, short-term and long-term strategic decision-making processes.

A practical approach to teaching is reflected in the practice oriented coursework: Macroeconomics illustrates basic principles combined with the experience of real life case studies, Operations Research applications are discussed in the context of a real market dilemma in the areas of finance, marketing, and operations management, Statistics course provides a balance between statistics theory and application, Forecast and Simulation are discussed in the context of application to manufacturing, retail, and service industries, Mathematical Economics places emphasis on a substantial amount of interpretation of numerical indicators in the economic context, Introductory Computer Sciences course is organized according to the see-hear-touch approach; lectures are accompanied by workshops in computer labs. Social Policy trains skills in social policy analysis through application of an analytical framework to the existing social policy programs, Business Plan is based on the extensive use of case studies covering various business areas, Negotiations provide students with the applications and special negotiating scenarios (multiple parties, coalitions and teams, cross-cultural negotiations, tacit negotiations and social dilemmas). Students are offered internships.

Graduates obtain a Master's Degree in International Management and are prepared to occupy higher managerial positions.

 


 HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT


 

Bachelor Program

 

Students acquire knowledge in economics and hospitality management. The program includes the following topics: motivation systems, the role of esthetics, color schemes and functionality in hotels, hospitality as a part of corporate culture, customer satisfaction and loyalty research methods, loyalty programs, and hospitality forms and principles.

A practical approach to teaching is reflected in the practice oriented coursework. Students are offered internships.

Graduates obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management and are prepared to run or take on middle management positions in hotels or restaurants, as well as travel agencies.



 
 

Master Program

 

This program offers training in the use of management tools in the hospitality field. Issues of hospitality management are presented in the context of general economic knowledge. Students acquire communication skills in relating to internal and external customers; they learn how to use hospitality management systems in hotels and restaurants, and they become familiar with methods of personnel management.

A practical approach to teaching is reflected in the practice oriented coursework: Macroeconomics illustrates basic principles combined with the experience of real life case studies, Statistics provides a balance between statistics theory and application, Accounting deals with the application of accounting concepts and principles to real life business situations, Introductory Computer Sciences is organized according to the see-hear-touch approach; lectures are accompanied by workshops in computer labs, Social Policy trains skills in social policy analysis through application of an analytical framework to the existing social policy programs, Business Plan is based on the extensive use of case studies covering various business areas, Negotiations provide students with the applications and special negotiating scenarios (multiple parties, coalitions and teams, cross-cultural negotiations, tacit negotiations and social dilemmas). WSIiZ posiada akredytację agencji rządu USA, zajmującej się przydzielaniem środków na kształcenie amerykańskich sił zbrojnych. W ramach akredytacji, na WSIiZ studia podjął żołnierz Korpusu Piechoty Morskiej USA (kierunek Informatyka i Ekonometria). Wszelkie koszty jego studiów w pełni finansuje rząd USA.

 

SZKOŁA LETNIA MANAGEMENT, ECONOMY TRANSFORMATION AND LARGE COMPANIES OPERATION
