 FIRST GRADUATION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
 
On 30th August 2007, the formal graduation ceremony of a group of 28 Iranian students took place. They were students of Information Technology and Econometrics and of Economics at second-cycle studies (two-year supplementary Master’s studies), the whole program conducted in English. Ms. Baghabani Shahnaz and Mr. Hesar Mohammad received certificates of honour and UITM Golden Awards.
At the graduation we hosted the representative of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Poland, Mr. Mohammad Fayazi Rouzbehani – Counselor for Political Affairs, UITM academic community and the families of the Iranian students.

DAYS OF AFRICAN CULTURE  21.07.2007

 

On the first of the Days of African Culture, taking place in a vegetarian restaurant 21gram, Nigerian students together with Joseph O., Ph.D., a lecturer of the Rzeszów University, presented a slide show and talked about their culture. Moreover, the students showed traditional Nigeria clothing and dances in the 3rd May Street. The students were playing drums and other instruments. The event lasted until 9.40 p.m.

DAYS OF AFRICAN CULTURE  22.07.2007
On the second African Culture Day, taking place in a vegetarian restaurant 21gram, Nigerian students offered traditional Nigeria cakes and fish dish to the interested guests. Moreover, the students presented modern dances in the 3rd May Street. Later in the restaurant, they showed a dance popular in African countries together with Nigerian music. The party lasted until 9.30 p.m.

FIRST DEFENCES OF MASTER’S THESES 12.07.2007


On 12th July 2007, five Iranian students defended their Master’s theses. Their supervisor was Professor Helmut Wachowiak, lecturer from the Internationale Fachhochschule Bad Honnef, the advisor was Renata Grzywacz, Ph.D., and the head of the committee was the Dean, Prof. Marek Pałasiński. The defence run smoothly. The students were leaving the examination room smiling, and after the results were read out, the time came for congratulations, joy and picture taking. Our graduates spoke warmly about the University and people they were working with throughout their studies. They declare they want to maintain further close contacts with our University on their return to their homeland.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



„OF ONE HEART AND OF ONE SOUL” – A CONCERT 11.06.2007

 

The founding father of the concert, which attracts dozens of thousands of people every year on the Corpus Christi Day, is Jan Budziaszek, a drummer of the Skaldowie band from Kraków since 1965. He played with such musicians as Tomasz Stańko, Janusz Muniak, Jarosław Śmietana, also with Maryla Rodowicz, and many others.
The Community „Of One Heart and of One Soul” has its representatives in various cities, such as Poznań, Kraków, Nadarzyn near Warsaw, Los Angeles, San Francisco or the "American Częstochowa". This year, a bus with young people from Moscow came as well. Nigerian students of the University of Information Technology and Management also sang on the stage.

 

 

 

 


 

MULTICULTURAL SPORTS TOURNAMENT 14.04.2007
 
The Multicultural Sports Tournament took place on 14th April 2007 in the Centre for Tourism and Recreation in Kielnarowa. Students from Nigeria, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Iran, Poland, China and Portugal took part in it.
The tournament was organised by the Institute of Research Civilizations. As you can see in the enclosed pictures, everybody enjoyed themselves immensely.

SPORTSPEOPLE BALL 05 - 2007


The annual sportspeople ball took place in rather unusual circumstances. This time it did not have the private atmosphere, for it was organised in the Taberna inn in Kielnarowa. Still, there was high attendance. Apart from Polish and Nigerian footballers, there were also volleyball (male and female) teams with their coaches, the organiser, Grzegorz Opaliński – head of the UC ASA UITM (University Club of Academic Sports Association at UITM), table tennis and chess players, people from the judo section. The atmosphere was friendly and warm as always.

ACADEMIC PODKARPACIE CHAMPIONSHIP IN MOUNTAIN BIKING  05.2007


The competition took place in Kielnarowa. The route for men was 10km long, and the one for women 5km long. Various universities and colleges from Podkarpacie region took part in the race, and Rzeszów was represented among others by UITM, the Rzeszów University and the Rzeszów University of Technology. The weather was very fine, and even though one Nigerian student got momentarily lost on the route, everything run smoothly and everyone came back home pleased. The race was under the auspices of the Head of the UC ASA UITM, Grzegorz Opaliński.

 MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE CITY OF RZESZÓW 30.05.2007


The meeting with the President of Rzeszów took place in the Town Hall on 30th May 2007 and concerned matters connected with making the stay in Rzeszów easier for the international students. The students asked questions and tried to present their point of view and ideas how to make life easier for international students living in Rzeszów. At the end of the meeting, the students received from the President gifts and an assurance that their issues would not be neglected.

ANNUAL UNIVERSITY PICNIC FOR EMPLOYEES


The annual picnic was organised in the Centre for Tourism and Recreation in Kielnarowa. There were performances of our well-known Folk Song and Dance Ensemble „Karpaty” and cheerleaders, you could also ride a horse or take a ride in a break, and thrill seekers could try taking the zip-line over a scarp. Moreover, the service of the Tawerna Inn treated the UITM employees to excellent food, and the children could have a lot of fun at an inflated slide and bouncers.
